Bedugul & Tanah Lot Tour

Ulun Danu Temple or Ulun Danu Penataran Agung Temple is one of the nine Khayangan Jagat temples that surround the island of Bali. Quoted from the Ulun Danu Beratan site, this temple was built by I Gusti Agung Putu, the first King of Puri Mengwi in the Saka Year 1556 or 1634 AD.

This temple consists of five complexes, namely Penataran Agung, Prajapati, Dalem Purwa, Beji Park, Lingga Petak, and the other is a Buddhist stupa. Until now, Ulun Danu Beratan Temple is still used as a place of worship for Hindus.

Tanah Lot Temple, one of the sacred places of worship for Hindus in Bali, stands on a rock on the beach side of Beraban Village, Kediri District, Tabanan Regency. The history of Tanah Lot Temple is related to a legend about a Javanese brahmin from around the 16th century named Danghyang Nirartha or also known as Danghyang Dwijendra or Pedanda Sakti Wau Rauh.

It was stated that Nirartha succeeded in winning the sympathy of the Balinese people to embrace Hinduism. This made Bendesa Beraban, the ruler of Tanah Lot, jealous. Moreover, many of his followers are in Nirartha. So, Bendesa forced Nirartha to leave Tanah Lot.
